Bay Area Sustainable Construction Leaders

Town + Gown Urban Resource Recovery (URR) Working Group 

  • Description: Town + Gown is a "city-wide university-community partnership program" under the NYC Dept. of Design and Construction (DDC). The URR is a working group within Town + Gown that focuses on promoting circularity of building materials in NYC.
  • Topics of focus: Closing Loops City Program Initiative (CLCPI) is an initiative developed by URR that focuses on "revis[ing] City agency construction practices and policies in order to leverage the City's capital program to support the private sector to help close construction and demolition waste (CDW) material loops."
    • CLCPI has a focus on "direct reuse" and "intentional indirect reuse" (use as feedstock for manufacturing facilities producing new construction materials)
    • CLCPI is envisioned as a 5-year pilot program (see below "CLCPI - past projects and topics of interest")
