My Team is so called Agile, though at times I feel we are not 100% Agile.
  • How do I know if we are following agile to 100 percent or to a good extent?
  • What shall I do to fill the gap?

Reasons for < 100 % agile adoption are,

1. when 1 or more team members does not have agile knowledge & does not trust on agile processes.
2. when the type of project is different & have more exceptions or need flexibility (Eg: PO not possible to join calls, Backlog cannot be prepared, client likes traditional water fall, etc.,)
3. Lack of efficient tool used on the project to effectively manage tasks, track & communicate with in the team.

To fill the gap, ensure,
1. All stack holders aware & trust on agile processes
2. Involve an expert & regularly monitor the adoption processes followed by the team and get it corrected then & there if there is a deviation.

    1. Agile maturity checklist list prepared at organizational level gives us high level idea on if you are following agile or not to 100%.
    2. If we want more detail level inputs , we can always request Agile COE and SDM team to have agilecatalyst assigned and get our project reviewed.

    1. Agile maturity list prepared at organizational level gives us high level idea on if you are following agile or not to 100%.

It will give us an idea on which things we are not properly following, we can discuss those things with the team and see how we can fill those gaps. where team needs help. Facilitate learning where ever needed.
If required we can also take help from Agile COE members and work with us.

    1. If we want more detail level inputs , we can always request Agile COE and SDM team to have catalyst assigned and get our project reviewed.

We can work with our team on the feedback given by Agile COE an ensure that we follow agile to 100%.

Overall working with team on identified gaps identified will surely help us.

Manager should honestly fill the agile maturity checklist to know if we are following agile to a good extent. Agile Maturity checklist is set of questionnaire loaded as per the agile methodology the project is following (Scrum / Kanban / scrumban).

  • What shall I do to fill the gap?
    • Talk with team understand the challenges they are facing. Brainstorm with team to find the solution within team.
    • Facilitate training if needed.
    • Talk with Agile Catalyst / Agile COE member if need any help in this.
