If I know part of a table, view or function (procedure), how can I find the associated object in Oracle, PostgreSQL and Sybase without going schema by schema and looking at all objects and their definitions?

I've used the following to help search for table names and column names.

select *
-- tables.table_name,
--columns.column_name

from information_schema.tables
inner join information_schema.columns
on information_schema.columns.table_name = information_schema.tables.table_name

where information_schema.columns.column_name like 'material%'

--information_schema.tables.table_schema = 'dcs_utilities'
--and information_schema.columns.column_default is not null
-- and

order by columns.column_name
