In the past I've been able to bypass Funamo by doing a hard reboot and factory reset of my phone. I reset it using the power and volume controls, not using any settings or software on phone. Ideas?

If you factory reset the device through hard key combo which is supported by some device models, there is no app can stop it because it is even before the system is bootup. It will wipe your device and remove all apps that you installed including Funamo. But if you have an accountability partner (it sounds like you are using Funamo accountability for yourself), he/she will notice that the device activities stop updating on Funamo online dashboard. And they will know that the app has been compromised. See this question for more info:
