Wireshark: "Wireshark is the world’s foremost and widely-used network protocol analyzer."

 

tcpdump: "tcpdump is a command-line packets sniffer tool which is used to capture or filter TCP/IP packets that received or transferred over a network on a specific interface."

 

Both tools function as network sniffers which intercept traffic on a network.
