Funamo not blocking apps - just installed on LG G3
I just installed Funamo Parental Control on an LG G3 - this is to be my second protected device - the first one which I licensed recently (on a Moto X) worked fine.
On the G3, no apps are being blocked. I added a number of apps to the block list and I set the checkbox to quarantine all new installed apps. No apps are being blocked at all! Not ones in my list and not newly installed ones. I also set up a website white list only list - it's only respected in the Funamo browser, but Chrome runs just fine (even though it's on the block list) and it does show any site!
I set up everything as instructed (and as I did it on the Moto X). The F is in the notification bar.
Please tell me what to do to get it working ASAP! I can't tell my teen that he can't use his new phone, but everything is open at the moment, which is not what we agreed on.
It's nearly 24 hours since I first posted this question - why is no one in Funamo Support responding?! I also sent them a direct email from this site many hours ago with no response. Hello??!!
In the meantime, I uninstalled and reinstalled the app to try again. It keeps popping up this message: Please enable Funamo under Access application usage data. Then click back button.
Search as I may in Settings, there is NOTHING that even closely resembles this option. I then did some searching online and found some sites that mention that the LG G3 running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) does not contain this setting at all. I could not find any answer to getting around this issue.
Can anyone tell me if this particular (missing) system setting will make the difference between Funamo working or not working? Can anyone tell me if there is a workaround? Or at least confirm that Funamo simply won't work on the LG G3?
Can anyone tell me if this setting returns to the LG G3 if the phone is updated to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow)?
I have successfully installed Funamo Parental Control on one phone (a Moto X) and it works fine, but I am having zero success with getting it working on the LG G3 and getting zero response from Funamo Support or anyone else in this forum.
Thanks for any assistance,
Please check if you see Application usage option in your Settings app (not Funamo). Normally it is under Security section. It is a standard Android feature, but some LG version does not support. If you find it, great, you can simply enable Funamo to access application usage. If not, please enable the option I mentioned earlier. Funamo will try to use an alternative way to control apps.
As I wrote, and as confirmed on multiple websites, there is no Application usage option in Settings on the LG G3.
I will try enabling the "App Usage not supported" as you suggested earlier.
I am trying to understand the implications of running Funamo with "App Usage not supported" enabled - will Funamo work as advertised even in this mode?
I activated the "App Usage not supported" setting in Funamo as you suggested, and now the device is completely unusable!#%!
Every 2 seconds, a message pops up saying "Please activate GPS. All applications are blocked until you activate GPS." and NO APP will run at all.
The login screen pops up every few seconds. It accepts my login and then 2 seconds later the login screen pops up again. It is impossible for me to go to settings to activate GPS and it is impossible for me to get into Funamo to turn off the "requires GPS on" setting.
In other words, the device does nothing, but show the above message and the login screen again and again and again and again. Even with the correct login, I am prevented from doing anything. The device is now completely unusable.
The response times from Funamo support over the past couple of days have been unacceptable. Now the Funamo software has made it impossible to use the device at all.
PLEASE HELP NOW.
Please make sure that you do not enable Force GPS option under Account settings. This is expected behavior when it is enabled to force user turn on GPS. You can also activate GPS from the shortcuts in the notification bar. Simply pull down from the top and you should see the buttons to turn on/off Wifi, GPS etc.
