WPA2 - 256 bit AES algorithms for encryption, which makes it much more secure than the ones before it.

WEP - 64 bit encryption, then went to 128 and now supports 256 bit as well. Though a lot of devices are still stuck at 128 bit.

WPA2 uses 256-bit encryption level while WEP uses 64-bit encryption level. Also, WEP is Wired Equivalent Privacy while WPA2 is Wi-Fi Protected Access.
