Carnot theorem for quantum nano-engines
“Minuscule heat engine brings power to the nano-world” says Nature Applied Physics.
In a review of an article, Josefsson et al., “A quantum-dot heat engine operating close to the thermodynamic efficiency limits”, Nature Nano. (2018) <arXiv:1710.00742>, it is stated that
“To make a nanoscale heat engine ... [they created] a system called a quantum dot. Electrons were driven between the hot and cold metallic contacts, generating a small amount of electric power. The engine operated at efficiencies on a par with conventional heat engines.”
A very important question here: Does Carnot theorem applies to such quantum nano-engines?
