AllAnswered supports three types of communities. You can configure your community type when you create the community or though Admin page afterwards.

For an open community,

  • Anyone can join the community and ask questions
  • Anyone can view the community contents
  • Community contents are indexed by search engine
  • Support community moderation
  • Suitable for product support, open source project, public forum or Q&A discussion board

For a closed community,

  • Users can join the community only by invitation from the community administrators or with an approved email domain
  • Anyone can view the community contents
  • Community contents are indexed by search engine
  • Support community moderation
  • Suitable for different groups such as school classes, seminars/workshops, research groups, meetup groups

For a private community,

  • Users can join the community only by invitation from the community administrators or with an approved email domain
  • Community content can only be viewed by community members
  • Community content is not indexed by search engine
  • Support community moderation
  • Suitable for organization internal communities
